In this highly provocative scenario, an actor posing as a teacher confronts actual refugees and asylum seekers with extreme political attitudes and regulations on arrival in their host country. In contrast to an observational depiction of a crisis, this riveting film builds to a climax in which the various participants learn of their fate. Stranger in Paradise heralds an exciting new directorial voice in documentary filmmaking.
